関口あずさ/Azusa Sekiguchi
Born and raised in Tokyo, Azusa graduated from Tama Art University in the faculty of Fine Arts for Japanese painting. She has been an active member in performances, installations, and group work all over the Japanese art scene. She studied at Aalto University in Finland for her third year of college, and experienced the differences in artistic value and expression between Japan and Scandinavia. In 2016, she delved into Ukiyo-e, a form of Japanese art from the 17th to 19th century where artists produced woodblock prints and paintings. It is widely used in traditional forms of Japanese culture like Kabuki, folk tales and even sumo wrestling. Her take on the genre was selected for the Tokyo Design Week "Sharaku Inspire Exhibition". In 2019, her paintings made in Finland were exhibited at the Acrylic Gouache Biennale. In 2020 she experienced office wall art production. She also participated in the group exhibition "WHAT CAFE POP UP SHOW with 100 ART" in that same year. She is currently working with local craft coffee makers in Japan helping with logo designs, event planning, etc.
