The famous Arabia building is the home of the University of Art and Design Helsinki. The name Arabia is also known for its ceramics. Otaniemi on the other hand is surrounded by nature and forest. The atmosphere is very different, more joyful in contrast to urbanised Arabianranta. I made my own version of the Arabia plate and designed an "Otaniemi" plastic plate where my image of this place can be seen.
フィンランドのアアルト大学には二つのキャンパスがあり、一つは有名な食器メーカー『アラビア』の工場を含むアラビアキャンパス、もう一つは私が参加していたVICCA (Visual Culture and Contemporary Art) コースを含むオタニエミキャンパスです。美術学部のキャンパスはオタニエミへと結合されるため、準備が本格始動した年に行われた『SPACE INVADERS Ⅲ』というプロジェクトに参加しました。
二つのキャンパスは全く異なり、アラビアは都会的な雰囲気ですが、それとは対照的にオタニエミは森に囲まれ、自然が多くのどかです。
私は『アラビア』ならぬ『オタニエミ』という架空の陶磁器ブランドを考え、その場所ならではの食器をデザインし、インスタレーション作品として発表しました。
